Welcome to dog sledding — only 40 minutes from Harstad! Sami Experience

Sami Experience – Exclusive and unique culture. Discover one of the most exclusive and unique cultures in the world. Duration: 60 or 90 min Physically demanding: Easy Discover one of the most exclusive and unique cultures in the world. Experience their way of life, their traditions, and what they hold dear. Here you can see and greet Sami in Sami costume and here you get the opportunity to feed and touch a reindeer if the reindeer wants it. You can also try your hand at lassoing reindeer antlers and hunting bow. We also take the trip into a lavvo where we sit on reindeer skins around a campfire and hear about Sami culture and history, and we get the opportunity to taste dried and smoked reindeer meat. In the winter and if it is possible, you can buy yourself a sleigh ride with the reindeer if the conditions are right. It\`s depending on there is snow and if the reindeer’s daily form is in shape. We never know what the weather will be like, or how the animal kingdom will behave, but if we are lucky, we will also be able to see the eagle fly curiously over us and in the sea outside there are both killer whales and harbor seals swimming past, but it’s not every day that we get to see something so spectacular, but we never know. HUSKY VISIT

Welcome to Husky Visit – Only 40 minutes from Harstad Here you will be warmly welcomed when you arrive, by both the host and the dogs. Well, received and when you have sat down inside the «Pyramid» you will be told how to behave in the dog kennel, they are not dangerous. They are very kind and only want to greet you. They love visits and will be happy to give you a hug, so make sure your clothes can withstand two dog paws from a dog who just wants to greet you. After the visit to the kennel, it’s back to the Pyhramide and here you will now hear about what it’s like to be a sled dog and what it’s like to take part in one of the world’s toughest sled races called the arctic Finnmarksløpet. And when you sit there around the fire and on reindeer skins, you will be served the locale and the world’s famose cake, called Kvæfjord cake, or you will be served the very best homemade cinnamon rolls, and to top it all off, you will also get Norwegian laugh with salmon and salad in it. Drinks are either coffee, tea or cocoa, you decide what you want most. THE HUNT FOR THE NORTHERN LIGHT

Duration: 2-3 hours Physically demanding: Easy Prepare you for an adventure you\`ll never forget. We are traveling to a place where we will enjoy the beautiful Arctic nature and the community in the hunt for the Northern Lights. We will make a camp site and sit on reindeer skins around the campfire while we wait for the northern lights to appear and if we have nature on our side, the northern lights will appear, and we can take the most beautiful pictures of the northern lights dancing across the sky. And while we sit there around the campfire, we all sit with a wooden stick with food on it and prepare our own food over the fire. We can promise you that the food tastes extra good out in God’s free nature and with something hot and good in the cup, it becomes magical. Remember warm winter shoes, warm winter clothes, hat and warm gloves and if you don’t have winter clothes, we can help you to get them. You never know if the Northern Lights will come but having an unforgettable trip out into the beautiful nature with friendly people, a campfire, food and drink is also an adventure in itself.

SNOWSHOING TOUR TO THE MAGICAL CHARMING CABIN

Duration: 3-5 hours Physically demanding: Easy Come and join us on an exclusive snowshoeing tour to the magical charming cabin up in the mountain This is truly idyllic, because this is an exclusive tour in the winter wonderland where we have focus on you and the journey we are on. Here you will experience beautiful and magnificent, wild nature and with the magical mountains called Sætertinden and Steinfjellet in the background, it will be an experience you will not forget in the first time, and who knows, if we are lucky, we may see some of the unique wildlife that is in the area. Here we can find eagles, hares, foxes, moose and reindeer. And if you choose an evening tour when its dark, it’s extra exciting, because then we walk with headlamps on and we will have the opportunity to see the northern lights if the sky is clear and everything is in place for this. The hike starts at the parking lot. Here we are given snowshoes and poles and help to get them on our feet if needed. We then walk together in a row through beautiful nature and at a comfortable pace and we stop and take breaks where we have something to drink, before we continue our journey up to the fabulous cabin. As we approach the cabin, we will be able to smell the wood burning stove and the smell of freshly brewed coffee. Once we get there, we will be welcomed by a fantastic host and here you will be served the locale and the world’s famose cake, called Kvæfjord cake, or you will be served the very best homemade cinnamon rolls, and to top it all off, you will also get Norwegian laugh with salmon and salad in it. WINTER ADVENTURE IN SOLLI MOUNTAINS

Duration: 3 hours Physically demanding: Easy Here you will enjoy yourself and have lots of fun at Solli mountains and here, only 15 minutes from Harstad you will experience the real winter magic of winter wonderland in Harstad Here you will be able to enjoy a nice stay in beautiful nature, whether it is snowing or sunny day, because here we have fun no matter what, because sitting on a sledding board and sledding down a hill is fun. And we will make a fire and grill food, drink hot cocoa, coffee or tea and that is very cozy. We also have a big “barbecue hut” as we call it here in Norway. Here we can sit inside and warm ourselves by the wood stove if we start to freeze. On request*we can arrange for several activities such as snowshoeing, Northern Lights tour or how about a trip up to the top of the Sollifjell to enjoy ourselves in the magical cabin there. Or how about trying out alpine skiing for the very first time, here we have the family hill at our disposal, so we have both the lift and the hill to ourselves and that is great, and the price isn’t as outrageous as you might think. And the very best thing is, here we arranged for experiences all year round in Sollifjell, like walking around in nature here in summer and autumn is beautiful and what about experience the midnight sun or berry picking, from which you can make your own jam.

ARCTIC FLOATING EXPERIENCES – MAGICAL ARCTIC ADVENTURE

In the evening time the opportunity to see the Northern Lights or the midnight sun is present. And when you are lying there and floating on your back in the Arctic waters whether it is winter or summer time, this is an experience you won’t soon forget. With us, you will put on survival suit that keep you warm and dry, no matter what time of year you choose to float around in the Arctic Ocean, you will be warm and dry as you float weightlessly around in the arctic sea. After you have been explained how to relate to the actual floating, you put on the life jacket and after the floating session is finished, we relax and enjoy some hot drinks and something to eat and handing out diplomas that proof that you have completed Harstad – Arctic Floating Experiences and of course a pleasant company in together with us all. The experience We meet at Harstad’s coziest and best coffee shop which is called Kaffepreg and is located at Storgata 17 – Just follow the good smell of coffee and you will find your way.
